When we need a getaway but we just don't have the time for a full-fledge vacation, never fear. This is Orlando, after all. Home to some of the world's best hotels. Here are a few ideas for a retreat close to home…
Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott Orlando Grande Lakes
Plan a getaway at this palatial resort and the toughest part of your stay will be deciding what to do first. At the Grande Lakes 500-acre property, visitors can get pampered at the 40,000 square foot spa, float down the lazy river, play golf on the 18-hole Greg Norman golf course, kayak through Shingle Creek, take a cooking class, even go fly fishing.
The Escape Romance package, from $239 USD per room per night, includes breakfast for two in the restaurant or room service, overnight valet parking, champagne & strawberries upon arrival, rose petal turn down, and extended checkout.
Gaylord Palms
With its 4.5-acre atrium filled with waterfalls and lush landscape, award-winning restaurants, adult-only pool, and 20,000 square foot spa and fitness center, it’s no wonder Orlando Sentinel readers just named Gaylord Palms the area’s “Best Staycation Resort.”
Couples celebrating their wedding anniversary OR their birthday get their second night FREE. You can take advantage of this offer anytime within the month of your wedding anniversary or on Fridays and Saturdays during the month of your birthday. Offer is based on availability and is available select weekends through September 3, 2012. Marriage certificate will be required at check-in for anniversary guests. Pricing: $199 based on availability
Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate
While I love this resort’s 850-foot lazy river, three estaurants, luxe spa and walk-out golf course, the big draw for me is Omni’s two- and three-bedroom villas, which are ideal if you’re getting away with another couple. Each Villa includes a fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining room with wet bar, separate den and a private terrace or balcony. The breakfast package, which typically is $369/night, includes breakfast for each registered guest.
