Serving those in need across the country, Meals on Wheels has been delivering lunch and dinner to millions of homebound seniors free of charge since 1960. In Seminole County, the program is run by the talented and warmhearted Chef Delano Lambertclare of Top Hat Catering.
Chef Delano recently had the idea to create cooking classes to help budding foodies up their skills but also to raise money for the Meal on Wheels program.
His classes are totally customizable and can be brought to your home or done in his professionally equipped kitchen. Classes are limited to just 10 participants for each class and include printed recipe handouts and a multi-course meal of the recipes prepared, served with wine or beverage of your choice. There is a morning and an evening option, but again if you need it customized, just ask!
Typical cooking classes are as follows:
Morning Schedule (cost $100 per person/per class)
(Minimum of 5 people per class)
One Saturday morning per month at 11am (3-hour class)
Excluding the months of November/December.
Evening Schedule (cost $100 per person/per class)
(Minimum of 5 people per class)
One Friday evening per month at 6pm (3-hour class)
Excluding the months of November/December.
**All proceeds benefit the Meals on Wheels program.
Delano started started working with Meals on Wheels 11 years ago and quickly realized the company needed more revenue in order to support their giant need. With his passion for food and commitment to the community, he started his own catering business, Top Hat Catering. All the proceeds he makes from Top Hat Catering are used to pay himself and his team and the rest goes directly to Meals on Wheels. Delano and his team of seven create 3,000-4,000 meals every day for Seminole County residents. And that's not including the for-profit catering side of the business.
Enjoy a fun cooking class while supporting a wonderful cause. It doesn't get any better!
