I met a happy couple recently who proudly admitted to being regular date nighters just like Marc and I. “But we always go to the same place,” they confessed. “Seasons 52!” WHAT?
While I have to admit my surprise at such loyalty to just one restaurant, I do agree that sometimes, especially on date night, it’s best to go with the sure thing. It’s been years since I visited Seasons 52, so I headed over to the Altamonte Springs location last night to remember why people love this place so much.
First off, I have to say that the bar at Seasons 52 rocks. We were there too early to enjoy the live piano music, but even without that added perk the bar is such a cozy place to hang out and enjoy cocktails and maybe a flatbread or two. Between the stools at the bar and the dozen or so booths that surround the area, there is ample seating for couples, especially if you arrive before 6pm.
In fact, if you’re there before 6pm, consider ordering Season 52’s Flights & Flatbreads deal, which gives you a flight of three red or white wines, followed by a full pour, AND a choice of gourmet flatbreads for $15.
The food is another reason couples come back to Seasons 52 again and again. Besides a commitment to keeping cuisine under 475 calories, the menu changes slightly seasonally and constantly offers new items to try. At the moment, Seasons 52 is highlighting the flavors of fall on their Autumn Menu, which features dishes boasting mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, and butternut squash.
Finally, there are those Mini Indulgences! Red Velvet Cake, Pecan Pie, and Pumpkin Pie (new for fall) are just a few of the flavors featured in these perfectly sized desserts. I remember popping in with Marc a few years ago after a movie and just ordering wine and two mini desserts each. We sat at the bar sipping wine and listening to music. It was fabulous.
There are far too many great restaurants in Orlando to commit to just one, but I’m glad I reacquainted myself with Seasons 52 and added it back into our date night repertoire. There’s a reason why it’s packed most nights; they’ve nailed the perfect combination of ambiance, great food and delicious cocktails. We will be back again.
The mushroom flatbread was made with three different types of mushrooms, caramelized onion and goat cheese.nThis organic salmon came with a dill sauce that was out of this world. The Mini Indulgences are a perfect dessert or all on their own at the bar with a glass of wine.
