Few things are quite as tranquil as a paddleboard yoga class. Picture this: you float out on a glass-like lake with a handful of yogis who’ve swapped out a studio for the natural landscape and have traded in their yoga mat for a paddleboard. Will it be challenging? Definitely. Is there a chance you’ll get wet? Potentially. But will it one of the coolest thing you’ve done in a while? Absolutely.
Wave of Wellness
Jessica Cichra, owner of Wave of Wellness, teaches a 75-minute combination of yoga, paddleboarding, Pilates and body weight exercises on Lake Mary Jane, near Lake Nona. Each class culminates in a blissful floating mediation before participants paddle back to shore. Classes, which are $30 each (including equipment), are scheduled at various times throughout the month. See the calendar for more details.
FLO-Y0 (floating yoga)
You can take a 60-minute FLO-YO class with Maui B’s Paddleboarding daily at 8am and 4pm or during the 6pm sunset session on Mondays and Wednesdays. The first 15 minutes of class is a peaceful paddle followed by a 30-minutes vinyasa flow yoga class. Then you’ll paddle back to the Lake Ivanhoe Boat Dock at Gaston Edwards Park, (1414 N. Orange Ave Orlando) where participants meet. Classes, which cost $35 per person and include all equipment, can be reserved online or by calling 407-952-4663.
Guruv SUP
This gentle hatha class in Lake Mary runs Saturdays at 6:30am, 8:30am and 4pm and gives participants the chance to connect with nature while doing some pretty stellar stabilizing poses. The constant stabilizing of the paddle board on the water is great for the core, balance, and awareness. RSVP is required for all SUP Yoga classes the day prior to instruction and the cost is $35 for a single class or $60 if you buy two classes. Call Dale 407-687-0407 for full address and reservations.
