Breakfast Restaurants in St. Augustine
A1A Beachside Diner
451 A1A Beach Blvd, St. Augustine, FL 32080
Dine inside or out at this spacious, retro-style diner with interiors boasting red leather and chrome trappings. Expect the classic breakfast options, but definitely make room for some chicken and waffles or a loaded bloody mary.
Georgie’s Diner
100 Malaga St, St. Augustine, FL 32084
Only a block away from Whetstones Chocolates and San Sebastian Winery, I suggest settling in for a big breakfast at Georgie’s, then having a gastronomic fun day. Georgie’s is one of those amazing gems of the past, a nostalgic silver diner with red leather interiors and 1960’s decor.
The best part? Their breakfast is also infused with authentic Greek flair. The owners of Georgie’s also run Cafe Alcazar and Athena, a favorite St. Augustine Greek restaurant.
Maple Street Biscuit Company
39 Cordova St, St. Augustine, FL 32084
Located in the historic district, this popular breakfast chain is a great option for those looking to fuel up for a day of sightseeing. Expect huge portions of fried chicken and biscuits dripping with your flavor of choice. There’s apple butter, maple syrup, hot sauce, pepper jelly, and more. You may need a few minutes with the menu to decide!
The Kookaburra Coffee Beachside
647 A1A Beach Blvd, St. Augustine, FL 32080
The Kookaburra has several locations in town, but the beachside location has a nice outdoor patio and is only steps from the beach, so why not take your brekkie down to the sand?
Their Aussie pies are the star beside their coffee and espresso, but they also offer up pastries and muffins. So what exactly is an Aussie pie? Imagine a quiche with a pie crust topping. Filled with eggs, cheese, sausage and more they offer several varieties to choose from. This hip spot is definitely worth a stop if you’re on the beachside!
Schmagel's Bagels
69 Hypolita St #3656, St. Augustine, FL 32084
A friend of mine told me that Schmagel’s Bagels is “schmexcellent”, so I had to know more. I’m a big fan of an everything bagel, but I’d never seen one like theirs before. In fact, it’s hard to see the bagel underneath all the schmexcellence that is their everything topping. That’s to say, they pack their bagels full of flavor on every inch.
Make a trip for your morning bagel fix, but be aware they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and close daily once they are sold out.
Island Donuts
400 A1A Beach Blvd, St. Augustine, FL 32080
It’s inhuman not to enjoy a good donut, and this place is full of them. From seasonal flavors to the classics (and everything in between), you’ll want to order a dozen.
Try their Island Fritter with pineapple, their Salted Caramel, or perhaps a candy coated one? Guava filled donuts, maple bacon and more await, so just do yourself a favor and head to this beach donut shop.
Blue Hen Cafe
117 M L King Ave, St. Augustine, FL 32084
This homespun cafe has a jovial decor of roosters and farmhouse style. Offering breakfast and lunch to hungry diners looking for some good Southern food, don’t leave without getting the fried chicken and biscuits with peach butter.
Note, the yummy breakfast shown in the featured image of this blog post is from Blue Hen Cafe, taking by Maria DiCicco.
Anastasia Kitchen
900 Anastasia Blvd E1, St. Augustine, FL 32080
This quaint breakfast spot located across from the St. Augustine Lighthouse plays up on the theme with quirky lighthouse decor. Serving up hot classic breakfasts with a few fun surprises on the menu, this soulful place makes for a great starter to the day.
Buena Onda Cafe
224 W King St, St. Augustine, FL 32084
This Latin-infused vegetarian and vegan breakfast spot has created quite the buzz in St. Augustine for their colorful lattes and droolworthy morning meals. Try their breakfast tacos, their tofu or tempeh banh mi, or bagel sandwich. Most of their meals are vegetarian with options to make them vegan. Check the menu for more detail!
