Sometimes you just need one night away. My boyfriend and I recently had a hosted stay at Orlando World Center Marriott, and even though we live in Orlando, it somehow felt like a mini vacation, without the long drive or airport chaos.

From the moment we stepped into our sleek, modern room (hello, spa-like bathroom lighting and a balcony that made us feel like we were floating above the city), we knew we were in for something special.

The Main Attraction: Poolside Fun + Mermaids at Night

Let’s talk about the Falls Pool & River Falls Water Park because it deserves the hype. This place is basically a water park in resort form, with waterslides, waterfalls, a splash zone, and an overall vibe that makes it feel like summer year-round. We floated lazily and lounged in the sun, but the real surprise came after dark.

Once the sun went down, we headed back to the pool area for the resort’s Mermaid & Glow Experience. The whole space lit up with glowing bubbles, neon lights, and a live DJ spinning poolside. And yes, actual mermaids swam through the water, waving and taking photos with guests.

We didn’t bring kids, but honestly? The whole thing was magical even as adults. People were dancing poolside, sipping glowing cocktails, and just generally vibing in the Florida evening air. If you want to go all out, you can even rent a Mermaid Glow Cabana for the full VIP treatment.

Dinner & Drinks: Mikado Japanese Steakhouse

After the glow party, we grabbed dinner at Mikado, the on-site hibachi spot. It’s tucked into the resort but feels like its own stylish little hideaway. Our chef was hilarious, the food was great, and the warm sake definitely hit the spot. It was a perfect date night combo of fun and cozy.

Morning Fuel: Latitude & Longitude Buffet

The next morning, we hit the breakfast buffet at Latitude & Longitude. Think southern biscuits and gravy meets classic scrambled eggs and fruit spreads, plus mimosas and Bloody Marys if you're feeling extra (we were). Everything was fresh, and the vibe was relaxed, perfect for easing into the day after a night of poolside magic.

Bonus Fun: Giant Chess, Mini Golf, and Water Slides

We didn’t expect to play giant chess, but when the board is already set up and the weather is perfect… why not? There’s also mini golf, waterslides that are way more fun than you think, and plenty of chill spaces to just sit and soak it all in.

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re planning a surprise staycation, celebrating something lowkey, or just want a fun date night that doesn’t involve the usual dinner and a movie, Orlando World Center Marriott is a solid pick. It’s part water park, part resort retreat, and the glow party with mermaids might just be one of our new favorite Orlando experiences.

Pro Tip: Don’t skip the balcony. Sitting out there with a cocktail and that view? Major main character energy.
