Looking for something exciting to do in Orlando after dark? Whether you're heading out with a longtime love or testing the waters with someone new, Universal CityWalk Orlando is one of the best places to be when the sun goes down.

Located between Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, CityWalk is a buzzing entertainment district packed with nightlife, themed dining, live music, and unique attractions — all without needing a theme park ticket. Here’s your ultimate guide to things to do at CityWalk Orlando at night.

Play a Round of Mini Golf at Hollywood Drive-In Golf

Start your night with a little friendly competition at Hollywood Drive-In Golf, where retro movie vibes meet quirky mini-golf fun. Choose between two interactive courses:

  • The Haunting of Ghostly Greens – A spooky-yet-silly haunted house adventure.
  • Invaders from Planet Putt – An alien invasion with glow effects, giant robots, and spacey surprises.

Both courses are full of playful details, music, and lighting effects, making them extra fun at night. Start the night with something playful. Hollywood Drive-In Golf blends retro 1950s movie themes with mini golf, glow effects, and just enough kitsch to keep things interesting. There are two courses to choose from: one spooky and silly, the other sci-fi and spacey.

Personally, I’ve always leaned toward Invaders from Planet Putt. There’s something about the glow-in-the-dark robots and wacky alien sound effects that instantly breaks the ice. If your date can enjoy a little campy fun, that’s always a good sign.

Bar Hop Your Way Around CityWalk

CityWalk is packed with themed bars and lounges — and hopping between them is half the fun. One of the most iconic things about CityWalk at night is the themed bar scene. Each bar has its own personality — which makes it perfect for couples trying to find theirs. When I was in the dating pool, a mini bar hop was my go-to strategy. It kept the energy up and gave us multiple chances to relax, laugh, and connect.

  • Pat O’Brien’s – A New Orleans-style bar with dueling pianos and strong Hurricanes.
  • Bob Marley – A Tribute to Freedom – Laid-back island vibes, live reggae, and outdoor seating.
  • Toothsome Chocolate Emporium – Boozy milkshakes, creative cocktails, and whimsical steampunk flair.
  • Bigfire – Slip into the cozy bar for elevated cocktails (try the peanut butter & jelly Old Fashioned).
  • Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville & Lone Palm Bar – Frozen drinks and live tunes with a beachy twist.
Important Note: Lone Palm Bar is currently under refurbishment.
  • Rising Star – Karaoke with a live band for an unforgettable singalong experience.

Keep an eye out for seasonal bars too, like the Dead Coconut Club, which pops up during Halloween season and other events.

Step Inside a Movie-Themed Escape Room

For something a little different, check out Universal’s Great Movie Escape, where blockbuster stories come to life in fully themed escape rooms:

  • Jurassic World: Escape
  • Back to the Future: OUTATIME

These aren’t your typical escape rooms — they’re immersive, cinematic adventures with multiple rooms, puzzles, and surprise effects. They’re great for both beginners and seasoned escape artists, with built-in story progression that ensures everyone finishes.

Afterward, grab a themed cocktail at the Great Movie Escape Bar, and head upstairs for a view over the CityWalk action. It's one of our favorite unique bars in Orlando.

Grab Dinner with a View (and a Vibe)

I’ve always believed you can tell a lot about someone by the way they approach dinner on a date. CityWalk offers plenty of casual spots, but if you're looking to linger over a great meal, there are some surprisingly romantic options.

One of my top picks is Vivo Italian Kitchen. You can watch the chefs make pasta from scratch, and the modern vibe is just the right balance of stylish and comfortable. I’ve had everything from early “getting to know you” dates here to anniversary dinners. It always delivers.

Bigfire is another go-to for a cozier feel — the fire-kissed menu and warm lighting make it easy to settle in. Many of CityWalk's restaurants are the best Universal Orlando restaurants for romance.

CityWalk’s dining scene doesn’t just offer tasty food — it’s full of energy and atmosphere, especially at night. Here are a few great spots for a night out:

  • Vivo Italian Kitchen – Modern Italian with fresh pasta made in-house. Great for date night or groups.
  • Bigfire – Elevated American fare in a cozy-yet-buzzing setting with an open-fire kitchen.
  • Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food – Bold flavors, a colorful setting, and a tequila bar with live music.
  • Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar – Fusion dining with fun energy and great views from the upstairs level.
  • Toothsome Chocolate Emporium – Ideal for couples or groups who want something playful and sweet.

Many restaurants have outdoor seating, and the glowing lights of CityWalk make for a great backdrop while you dine.

Catch Live Music & Nighttime Performances

CityWalk comes alive at night with live music and entertainment. Here’s where to tune in:

  • Pat O’Brien’s – Dueling pianos that take song requests and bring big energy.
  • Rising Star – Karaoke, but with a full live band backing you up (yes, really).
  • Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Cafe – Live bands inside and solo artists on the Porch of Indecision.
  • Hard Rock Live – A full concert venue with national touring acts, comedy shows, and themed events.

There are also two outdoor stages at CityWalk where live music and DJs perform on weekends — perfect for grabbing a drink and soaking up the atmosphere.

Bonus: Ride the Water Taxi to a Resort Bar

Looking for a change of scenery? Hop on a free water taxi and cruise over to one of Universal’s nearby hotels for even more nightlife:

  • Loews Sapphire Falls – Chill out at Strong Water Tavern with Caribbean cocktails and small plates.
  • Loews Portofino Bay Hotel – Take a romantic stroll through the piazza or grab a glass of wine at The Thirsty Fish.
  • Hard Rock Hotel – The Velvet Bar is sleek and stylish, with occasional live music.

The boat ride itself is worth it — smooth, scenic, and a relaxing way to see the resort lights.
